Just because it's not in Debian stable it doesn't mean the software is
unstable. I'm using XF 4.x, packages from debian unstable and it works
perfectly. And XF 4.0 is indeed "release", it's not in beta or anything.

As for Mozilla 0.8, it's light years ahead of M18 in terms of stability.
Although now I'm using konqueror.

Huh?

Sure, using bleading edge software increses the chances of bugs, but to just
blatantly state that that's the reason someone is having problems is a bit
much.

KMail? I've just switched to it. http://kmail.kde.org, or apt-get install
kmail.

A question before I start installing the source dist; does it sync properly
when playing DivX? Because aviplay does not, although the 2.x version is much
better than 1.x.

inetd should be running. If you wish to disable innd and if it's started by
inetd, edit /etc/inetd.conf and comment out the appropriate line.

inetd is the general daemon that answers connections for a variety of
services. Usually you want it running.

Well docs are at www.mutt.org, but in your case you probably want to list
your mailboxes using the "mailboxes" configuration parameter ("mailboxes box1
box2 box3 ...").

For convenience, you might also want to do:

   macro index i c?\t

so that "i" will give you a list of folders.

Us the mkswap command ("man mkswap" for details) to initialize the the
partition as a swap partiation (be careful - everything there get's nuked).
Then you can use the swapon command ("man swapon") to activate it. Similary,
use swapoff to disable the old swap.

To make it permanent you'll have to modify /etc/fstab to point to the new
partition. It should be pretty obvious what to do; just change the partition
pointer on the line that mentions swap...

I've been doing hdoarm -d 1 on my disk holding a couple of heavily-used
ReiserFS partitions. No troubles so far.

KMail(KDE 3.1)+GnuPG/MIME

2003-02-03 Thread Peter Schüller
Hello,

I originally sent a query to the kmail list, but this is probably a better
place to ask about this.

Is there any Debianized solution for having GnuPG prompt for passphrases when
used with KMail and the Aegypten plugin?

I've installed the KDE 3.1 Debian package version of KMail and everything
works, including most GnuPG stuff, except I can't sign/decrypt because GnuPG
can't ask for my passphrase.

The instructions on the Aegypten page suggests gpg-agent/pinnentry/gpgme/etc,
but there doesn't seem to be Debian package for it, and I am hesitant to
install source packages (due to the sprinkler effect).

Any easy/debianized way of getting this functionality?

Thanks,

That's a possibility. But I'd rather not resort to using the classic in-line
PGP signatures. It get's in the way.

Thanks!

Thanks a lot!

Now I just have one problem.

gpg-agent seems to fail to set the GPG_AGENT_INFO environment variable. I can
cut'n'paste the command it outputs to set it, and it works for regular gnupg
(if I don't, it says the agent is not available due to the lack of
GGP_AGENT_INFO (g10/passphrase.c)).

However, if I do that before starting kmail, kmail does not seem to propagate
the environment to the child process it runs gnupg in. I.e., exporting the
variable manually doesn't help.

Does anyone know what I should do about this?

Thanks!

Thanks a lot! I hadn't noticed that kmail was invoked by some other process
(kdeinit?). As a result, setting the variable in the terminal prior to
launching kmail doesn't help.
