2 ethernet cards (more ...)

1998-06-24 Thread Philippe BARBELET
Hi Debian friends,

I have 2 ISA 3C509 ethernet cards in my PC.

At boot time, the system says :

3c509: WARNING! Module load-time probing works reliably only for EISA
and MCA bus!!
loading device 'eth0'...
eth0: 3c509 at 0x300 tag 1, 10baseT port, address  00 20 af 34 e8 44,
IRQ 3.
3c509.c:1.07 6/15/95 [EMAIL PROTECTED]

My lilo.conf file is correctly configured :

append="ether=0,0,eth1"

but the system doesn't see the second card. I think that the probing
test doesn't work
correctly.

If I put just 1 card at a time, the card is always recognized.

Thanks for your help.

Phil.

2 ethernet cards

1998-06-23 Thread Philippe BARBELET
Hello,

On my PC (Compaq), I have installed 2 ethernet cards to communicate
whith
2 distinct networks. But my system detects just 1 card during the boot
process. In a first time I have declared in the /etc/lilo.conf file
my two card as follow :

append="ether=0,0,eth1"

In a second time I changed this and I wrote :

append="ether=3,0x300,eth0 ether=5,0x210,eth1"

to force the declaration of my 2 cards.

Nothing changed.

Do you have some help for me ?

Thanks.

I have problem with base file installation

1998-04-27 Thread Philippe BARBELET
Hi Debian Linux Users,

I have loaded from ftp.debian.org site all files to install the Linux
base on a
PC. All was good but...

The installation program read the 5 floppy disks from "base-1" to
"base-5"
but at the end it wrote "Error: checksum is not good".

I built the 5 disks again as it was written whith the rawrite2 program
and whith an other
unix system whith dd command. I had the same result.
So I reload the files again from the site and I built again the medias.
It's still wrong.

Do you know this problem and the solution to apply ?

Thank you for your help.
