Can you tell why are you using apt-listbugs to get the updates? I mean,
"apt-get upgrade" should manage that for you, right? :-)

With apt-get upgrade, I would have installed even the update with a
grave bug, that was my logic. Is there a way to exclude packages with
this command?

I am reading your latest reply after I sent you another message, where I
seem to have partially solved the problem. You may want to have a look
at it anyway, it has a transcript of my console too.

Re: Re: Bug in both update manager and in apt-get

2012-03-07 Thread pierpaolo pilla
Hi Camaleon

Update

I have realised that there was another error reported once I was
refusing to try checking bug reports again:

E: Failure running script /usr/sbin/apt-listbugs apt || exit 10

I have decided to go manual, after reading this post:

http://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=48484

I have checked all updates with apt-listbugs in my updates manager, and
after finding that only one had a grave bug (imagemagick) I have
commented out the relevant lines in
"/etc/apt/apt.conf.d/10apt-listbugs.conf" and installed all but
imagemagick.

This has worked but I am nervous not having the filter for bugs in
future installations.

By the way I get a strange error when opening emacs from console...

Here is a transcript of my terminal:

Hi Camaleon

Apologies for my late reply, I would expect for any reply to my original
post to reach my mailbox, but it doesn't...

As I replied to Hugo, I have tried:
"
root@pier:/home/pier# apt-listbugs list mono-apache-server
Reading package fields... Done
Reading package status... Done
Retrieving bug reports... Done
Parsing Found/Fixed information... Done
"
It seems to work fine, but when I try to install the package I get the
same error above...

This seems to me that the problem is not in accessing the bug reports
otherwise the apt-listbugs command would fail too. Right?

I'll hopefully have a chance to try another ISP in a week's time or so,
moving to my new flat (in Brasilia by the way) is taking longer than
expected.

Will keep you posted, thanks again.

Hi Hugo

Actually I have tried apt-listbugs:
"
root@pier:/home/pier# apt-listbugs list mono-apache-server
Reading package fields... Done
Reading package status... Done
Retrieving bug reports... Done
Parsing Found/Fixed information... Done

It seems to work fine, but when I try to install the package I get the
same error above...

I hope this is due to the current ISP I'm using. Hopefully in about a
week's time I'll move to my new flat and try again. If this is not
resolved by then, I'll let the mailinglist know.

Thanks

Many thanks Camaleon.

Very much likely it's me, I'm a newbie ;-)
This is not transient as I've been trying daily for the past few days.
Also, apt-get install works with some application, but doesn't with
others.
I am on a temporary accommodation at the moment, with wireless only
access to internet. As you said, it could be them.

Bug in both update manager and in apt-get

2012-03-04 Thread pierpaolo pilla
Hi

I have this bug when trying to install security updates (in update
manager), and when trying to install mon-apache-server (with
apt-get-install):
"
Error retrieving bug reports from the server with the following error
message:
 W: HTTPClient::KeepAliveDisconnected
It could be because your network is down, or because of broken proxy
servers, or the BTS server itself is down. Check network configuration
and try again
"

This problem is recent, didn't have it until few days ago...

This is happening in my squeeze install on macbook pro 3.1.

The debian bug reporting web page recommends to use this mailing list to
determine which package I should report the bug to...

Thanks in advance!

i'll need a custom kernel with all compiled-in except modules not need in

this solve my proble with the dual core intel cpu when suspending (on ram):
resuming resulted in missing cpufreq for cpu1 and missing stuff regarding
this core all around /sys/devices/cpu/cpu1 etc.
i'm a little bit anxious about the forced rmmod... any hints?

Another question: while thaw from hibernate result in a system power
consuming of ~16W and consequentially in a battery life ~3h,
resuming from suspend results in a system power consume of ~18-19 slowly
decreasing to 17 and a shorter battery life. That's true even considering
the (i presume) high power (and time) consume on "boot" for hibernate!

thanks for any advice

2009-02-10 Thread PierPaolo
Noway. Grub legacy, Grub2... The boot up procedure from the bios ends,
respectively, in "Grub error 22", or in a page full of "GRUBGRUBGRUBGRUB"
I'm trying to install lenny 32 on an athlon xp 2.600+
some hints?

I'm (surely anyone to sate anything, but a debian user who trashed windows
since etch) agree with this argument: i use gmail-whit-bell-and-whistles
(claendare & reader) for the mail and rsyslog for the system warnings and
etcetera. I simply want to get rid of mta, because it's really not used in
my system (the only root-mail i ever seen was by smartd upon my input
throught a test).
And anacron and cron simply recommend a mta! The real issue - however that
seems to me - is with at... (and drupal6 for those needing it...)

Dell bluetooth Broadcom BCM2045B2, lenny

2008-12-29 Thread pierpaolo
Hi all! A little help...
Cannot get to work BCM2045B2 MiniPC bluetooth module found in my Dell Vostro
1400. Various pages states it "work out of the box" but not for me...

I installed all the stuff
bluetooth, bluez-utils, bluez-firmware (BCM203x), bluez-audio, bluez-pcmcia,
python-bluez, kbluetooth

I managed to modprobe hci_usb and/or bfusb(?)

Bluetooth led always off

I haven't WinXP or Vista, and i can't install them

A couple of questions:
1. A little summary about how to make a new initramfs image with new
modules? Why bluetooth modules is not called from kernel on boot? ( i try an
update-initramfs -u )
2. I think i need a firmware for this feature, isn't right? ehre can i find
it?
3. How i implement this path? Or, is this patch implemented in kernel 2.26-1
amd64?
