Xen, cannot create partition from and for domU
Hi, I run _full virtualization_, on Xen3.0.3, Debian (not openSuse this time). I try to install a Debian netinst. A problem occurs when (the domU is) trying to create the partitions on wich it's going to install. The domU configuration is [...] disk=['phy:/dev/sda6,ioemu:hda,w','file:/home/temp/dn.iso,hdc:cdrom,r'] [...] The /dev/sda6 was in the past an ext3 partition and I just reformat it to ext3 before using it for the full virtualization. In the debian netinst domU installation stage of creating partitions (whatever partition scheme I order) it (the Debian installer) _always_ fails saying ext3 partition creation failed. Nothing more. Is there a known issue about that? Must I use file-partitions? Thank you for any answers. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? virtual machines
Hi, I have a test machine, on wich I use to package and test packages. I package both for Fedora and for Debian. For the moment, I use multiboot. But I am tired to reboot each time I want to switch distribution. I intend to buy some amount of RAM and then try to use virtual machine. I really begin on that subject. I never did||setup virtual machines. I would like to run Debian (unstable or testing) as layer and then run the virtual machine on top of it, and then have one virtual Fedora and one virtual Debian so that I can compile and switch from one to another without having to reboot. What virtual machine would work well on a Debian (Wen? Qemu?...)? whith a well intergrated Debian package, and a howto espacially for Debian... scanner device ?
Hi, I have an HP 2200C USB scanner. I am running unstable I installed sane and xsane. When I turn the scanner on, sane-find-scanner finds it when launched as root. The problem is when I launch xsane as root, I find the scanner and may scan, but when doing it as a simple user no device is found. I guess it's a matter of permission. chossing debian mirrors
Hi, On a fresh new Debian install you can choose the kinds of mirrors you want to use (FTP, HTTP,...) and then pick some from a list. I first cheese (choosed?) all HTTP ones, but know I want to switch to all FTP. A sed 's/http/ftp/g' /etc/apt/sources.list is not enough because some mirrors are on a Vhost HTTP so that their hostname resolve to anything when asking FTP. xcdroast, duplicate bootable CDrom
Hi, I am using GNOME on a Debian Sid and on another Fedora Core 4. All 2.6.14 kernel. I use Xcdroast to burn/duplicate my CDs I know about k3b and all others, but I wonder about one thing on xcdroast: I cant duplicate CDs properly. If, for instance, I insert an XP CD (to duplicate for private/backup copy): - xcdroast sees it as an audio CD (on Fedora) and sees nothing (on Debian). - there is no way to make an image, for later burn, only the on-the-fly option is possible (obvious, if audio CD, but it is not an audio CD). I have all the dependencies installed (cdrtools, mkisofs,...) The GNOME system automounts me the CD as data CD and allows me to brows it without any problem (but XCDRoast does not see it, or sees as audio CD) I dont understand. Would you help me to explain? PS: It has been Xposted to the debian and fedora ML, feel free to follup up where ou want. Thank you. -- A powerfull GroupWare, CMS, CRM, ECM: CPS (Open Source GPL). Hi, I had a Wooody that became a Sarge and then bacame an Etch. The CUPS on it worked very well, I used to use the printer module. Now I see that the module is usblp and the problem is that when I send a job to the printer, it is told to be sent, no error message, but, but, but,... nothing is printed.
