how to hibernate?
Hi folks What is the way to go with hibernate on a laptop? I have tried uswsusp: https://packages.debian.org/stretch/uswsusp , and the s2both command (copy image to RAM+disk, power off) works like a dream, but somehow encrypt=y option in /etc/uswsusp.conf is ignored (no password on hibernate nor resume). Moreover, suspend-keygen program (referenced from the man page, which can be used to generate the RSA key) seems to be missing from the package. What do you use to hibernate your Debian machine (with encryption)? Thanks! SF
[DebianOn] laptop for development with hibernation?
Hi folks I have a simple task: find a developer (programming) laptop which works reasobably well with current Debian Stable. I am particularly interested in smooth hibernation and WiFi as I am often on the go. I can see DebianOn: https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebianOn/ but it is very fragmented. For example the latest Dell XPS to claim it has hibernation working is a 2013 model: https://wiki.debian.org/InstallingDebianOn/Dell/Dell%20XPS%2013%209333 . Can you share your hardware+software configuration and working/not-working hardware feature matrix? Can you also add it to the wiki? Cześć Planuję zakup internetu mobilnego (komórkowego), wstępnie przymierzam się do sieci Plus i modemu USB Huawei E3372 albo routera mobilnego Huawei E5573 LTE. Czy ktoś z Was miał jakieś doświadczenia z tymi urządzeniami? Do tego routera podłącza się chyba z komputera przez WiFi więc problemu ze sterownikami chyba nie powinno być... a z bezpieczeństwem? install Debian using qemu - fail
Hi I am trying to install Debian in file, using QEMU and following this guide: https://wiki.debian.org/QEMU . I do this: $ qemu-img create debian.img 2G Formatting 'debian.img', fmt=raw size=2147483648 $ qemu-system-x86_64 -smp 2 -hda ./debian.img -cdrom ../debian-8.2.0-amd64-netinst.iso -boot d -m 2048 which runs the Debian installer. Everything works fine (a bit slow) except that it always fails on "select and install software" step. Why? How can I access syslog? I tried to mount a partition contained in debian.img and look for syslog there, but there is no such file. I am running: Linux dellsf 3.16.0-4-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 3.16.7-ckt11-1+deb8u4 (2015-09-19) x86_64 GNU/Linux
