Installing 2 MTA's on a single server

2005-09-13 Thread Cygnus System Administrator
Is there a way with apt to install exim4 on a server that already has
postfix installed without removing postfix. The exim server is going to
be using a different IP than the postfix server and will be used for our
internal users. Thanks in advance!

Convert Red Hat 7.2 to Debian 3.0

2004-02-11 Thread System Administrator
I am about to cobvert a system from Red Hat to Debian. Idealy I would do a
fresh install from scratch, but am trying to avoid this. While at the Linux
Expo in NYC last month, the Debian Booth people reccomended a program that I
think they reffered to as "Debian Hijack" or something similar, to convert
the directory structure, etc... prior to performing a Debian 3.0 upgrade.
Does anyone know what program they are reffering to and it's source? Any
input would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Linux and 3DFX (prolly off-topic)

1999-06-05 Thread Junior System Administrator

Hi. I've just installed a Monster3D pass-through for my Diamond Stealth 64.
I installed GLIDE 2.x, Mesa 2.6 (Quake doesn't seem to like 3.0) and a 3dfx
module (which creates a '/dev/3dfx' device) -- my kernel is 2.0. I can run
programs compiled with libc6 (not with libc5 however, I just get a seg fault).
The various 3dfx test programs run OK, and so does Quake II running it's GL
renderer. The only problem I have is that the card will only work at the
640x480 resolution -- nothing higher, nothing lower. The 3dfx test programs
simply crash, and Quake II reverts back to 640x480 if I try and change. I
know that there's nothing wrong with the card because I can switch properly
in Win95. Any ideas ? Thanks in advance,

Pete =:-)

Ricoh MP6201S & Buslogic Flashpoint anyone using this ?

1999-01-09 Thread Dave Restall - System Administrator
Hi,

>From the subject, you will get a good idea of my message :-)

I bought a Buslogic Flashpoint controller a while ago and then a Ricoh
MP6201S CD/RW drive.

The two never worked very well together, though when I was using them
under Debian 1.3 they did what I wanted them to do. They wouldn't work
with anything but mkisofs and cdrecord and as I didn't want to make
music CD's this was fine. I upgraded to Debian 2.0 a few months ago and
backed up my drives etc before doing so to CDROM. Since the upgrade, I
have been unable to write to the CDROM.

I have applied patches from the manufacturer to the PROM on both the
SCSI card and the CDROM, I have also tried using Kernel 2.0.36 and I
still can't write CD's. I can read them fine.

I realise the Flashpoint controller support is flaky under Linux but I
did have the system working. I now can't write anything to the drive.

It may be a processor/speed problem. I've been in touch with the
developer of cdrecord and also with the unofficial Ricoh site but have
not had any success there. I've been through all the settings in my BIOS
and in the SCSI card bios and can't see anything that would cause the
problems. In short it all looks fine (+ it did partially work before).

What I'm trying to find out is if there is anybody on the list using the
same combination of HW and if they had any success. To summarise :-

SCSI Controller : Buslogic Flashpoint
SCSI CD/RW : Ricoh MP6201S
Processor : AMD K5 running at 90MHz.

Speech recognition

1998-06-05 Thread Junior System Administrator

Hi. I was just wondering whether Debian has a speech recognition program for
the shell or X Windows, it doesn't really matter. If any of you also use OS/2,
do you know of any speech recognition software available for that as well
(preferably free ;-) ?

Thanks in advance,

Pete =:-)
