Re: debian-disent

Er...I immediately unsubscribed from that list because of all the negative
energy that it conveyed. Although I can't recommend it, you can try
sending subscription requests to [EMAIL PROTECTED], or if that
doesn't work, try [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Debian packages for Linux 2.1.x necessary software?

1997-09-19 Thread Arthur Jerijian
Hi,

Are there any Debian packages available for the necessary software in
order to get Linux 2.1.x running? I don't want to mess up my system's
dependency structure just to do something like, say, upgrading libc from
the original tarball.

Thanks!

Red Hat's Xconfigurator for Debian?

1997-09-04 Thread Arthur Jerijian
Hi,

I tried to install the XConfigurator and newt RPM packages from Red Hat
onto Debian, using the alien program. I was able to start XConfigurator,
but it was apparently looking for some Red Hat administrative files. Is
there a version of XConfigurator for Debian? The default XF86Setup
program does not work very well with my video card and monitor.

Thanks!

Trouble running fte from the Official Debian 1.3.1

1997-09-03 Thread Arthur Jerijian
Hi,

I have installed the fte text editor package from my Cheap*Bytes Official
Debian 1.3.1 CD-ROM. I can run the text-mode (vfte) version of this
program just well, but only as root! If I try to run vfte as a normal
user, I get the following:

open: Permission denied
failed to open /dev/vcsa*

Is there a small permission problem that might have been fixed since
Debian 1.3.1 was released? I really don't want to make vfte setuid
(heavens, someone can just happily modify my /etc/passwd as will).

Thanks.

Linux 2.0 and Debian 1.1

1996-06-11 Thread jerijian
Hi,

Is Linux 2.0 going to be included in Debian 1.1 once it's
release?
Thanks.
