I have a Cirrus Logic GP-75xx that I can't get working.

I decided to do the decent thing and switch to PCI. .
...  The long and short of it is that I am stuck with a Cirrus Logic GP-5446
(2Mb) video card that X claims it cannot id (X -Probeonly actually reports
something like 64k) I wonder if there is anyone out there who knows about these
things or has (is having) the same problem...

P/s there is some report at boot-time of an unidentified PCI device (no prizes
for guessing what is indicated in /proc/PCI)

Xfree 320x200 :-(

All I can get in X windows is 320x200. I have went through the setup ie:
xf86config .

I am using a Everex p75
with the d-stn LCD and a Cirrus Logic board CL-GD7543 LCD
with an Internal clock of Cirrus 5430

SuperProbe did not give any info

I did find out that the Dotclock is 28.14

I'm using the 'svga' server

Any new patches I can compile to make this thing run.

I need a header file named curses.h  I did a search but did not find
anything.  I did change to the highest gcc. Is that why make can't find it.

Does anybody know where I can find this as86 thing. My kernel wants it
during the compile.  Also does the zimage automaticly gets installed when
you do a make zimage or does it just makes it without installation.

New kernal

Where should I look for a stable kernal? I have to make a new kernal so that
my Xwindows will work. (My mouse pad on the laptop freezes the keyboard). Is
there a Debian packaged kernal that will guide me through it or do have
kernal*.tar.gz from and make it myself? My gcc is working great and I just
installed the make.deb and I have some documents but they do not talk about
*.deb files. 

Any suggestions out there.

Gcc won't compile :-(

i get an error when I try to compile a simple hello world C program.

It says that it can't find a crt0.o file. i think i need to link some lib 
to something else but I could not find any documents showing all the 
things that should be linked. Can anyone help.
