mutt mark tagged as read?

2002-01-18 Thread neonatus
Hi!

I am using mutt as my prefered mail reader, and sometimes I just don't
want to read all the mail, so I just check the headers and mark them as
read. Is there a way to tag all the wanted messages and than mark them
all as read?
(I know how to tag, but marking all the tagged messages as read part
somehow does not work for me :/).

Can someone help me with this please.

THX in advance!

module licence problems with pcmcia

2001-11-27 Thread neonatus
Hi!

I have a minor cosmetic problem with pcmcia modules built from pcmcia-cs
source (debian package named pcmcia-source). Whenever I load the pcmcia
modules (or whenever they are automatically loaded) I get this error:
Warning: loading /lib/modules/2.4.16-grsec-1.9-spiritus/pcmcia/ds.o will
taint the kernel: no license

Is there a way to do it right, so this warning would not be displayed
any more?

THX in advance!

Linux kernel bug report?

2001-09-23 Thread neonatus
Hi!

I have just discovered that APM in kernel 2.4.10 does not work (/proc/apm file
does not get created and consequentially apm progs do not work).
Can someone else confirm this?
And where can a bug report about this kind of bug be sent? (this is not a
Debian kernel but a vanilla one from ftp.kernel.org).

THX in advance!

Yes, but found nothing :/

Are you running apt 0.5.3? That's out of testing. 0.3.19 in stable doesn't
 have support for /etc/apt/preferences.

I am trying to do just the opposite (to have unstable for default and testing
for downgrading when necessary), so I changed testing to unstable and unstable
to testing.
That should do it. You don't have anything commented out that you didn't
show here, do you? That hoses things :(.
No nothing else

In my case it actually seems to get most of the dependancies from testing since
I could not do apt-get upgrade or apt-get install gnumeric, couse it claimed it
cannot find some dependancies or that the packages are not new enough. Here is
an example:
shell output
sudo apt-get install gnumeric
Reading Package Lists... Done
Building Dependency Tree... Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

Sorry, but the following packages have unmet dependencies:
gnumeric: Depends: bonobo (= 1.0.7) but 1.0.7-2 is to be installed
Depends: libgnome32 (= 1.2.13-5) but 1.2.13-9 is to be installed
Depends: liborbit0 (= 0.5.6) but 0.5.8-2 is to be installed
Depends: python-base but 1.5.2-16 is to be installed
Depends: gsfonts-x11 but 0.13 is to be installed
E: Sorry, broken packages
/shell output

This only happens when my sources.list includes the testing paths, but when I
comment them out and do apt-get update everything works like a charm.

Can someone please help me?

THX in advance!

Reinstall a package

2001-07-04 Thread neonatus
Hi!

I have lost several files due to an fs inconsistency on ext2 fs, I would
therefore like to just reinstall certain packages, to replace the lost files.
Is there an easy was how this can be done? I checked the dpkg man page and did
not find anything like reinstall.

'dpkg -i foo.deb' will reinstall the package foo, if it's already
installed. If you want to use APT, you've to use --reinstall in
 addition to 'install'.

big problem

2001-07-01 Thread neonatus
Hi!

I am running debian unstabe on a couple of my machines. I have run apt-get
update and apt-get upgrade yesterday, and on two machines it ran perfectly, but
the third machine which is a server on LAN which had an 32 days of uptime
crashed with kernel panic caused by dpkg... so I rebooted (kernel 2.4.5). The
fs is reiserfs so the disk check was ok, but after reboot dpkg/apt dont work
any more... it just starts the process and hangs there for ever... I stopped
the process with ctrl+c and than ran it again, it said to do dpkg --configure
-a, but that also failed (countinues infinatelly).
Could someone please help me fix this, I really wouldn't like to reinstall the
whole system, since apt/dpkg arent usable anymore :/

Look at the output file if dpkg is stuck on some system call.

Hmm it seams you were right... it was stuck on ldconfig... but now ldconfig is
the problem as it seems... since every time I run ldconfig it just freezes
and its state is marked D in ps aux command output.

Hmm did some more stracing... on ldconfig.. and discovered that my reiserfs
partition had problems that could not be fixed even with reiserfsck, so I had
to do backup on the good files and reformat the partition, than copy the files
back and add the new files that were corrupt. Well now it works! Thx for
reminding me of the strace command... I completely forgot about it.

pstree problem on woody

2001-04-03 Thread neonatus
Hi!

Has anyone's pstree command stopped working when upgrading from potato to woody
(and to kernel 2.4.x). I have two systems - one is debian woody and other
debian sid. On sid pstree runs just fine, but on woody pstree gives absolutely
no output, not even an error. Both systems are running on reiser and kernel
2.4.3. Does anyone know anything I could do to make pstree work (I even compied
the .deb package from unstable's source version 20.1), but still the same
problem.

konqueror problems

Hi!

I have two machines running Debian GNU/Linux sid. I have konqueror installed on
both of them and also netscape with plugins. But the problem is konqueror works

to save the file the plugin should run, and there is an message on the page
saying the plugin could not load the object.

Has anyone expirienced this? Anything similar? Both machines have same
versions, same configs everyting is the same, but they don't work the same :/
