Re: /var/log/exim4/paniclog has non-zero size
First read the contents of the paniclog file. If that problem still exists go and correct it. Then use touch on the paniclog file to make it have a 0 length and continue with your upgrade. '/var/log/exim4/paniclog has non-zero size' Any suggestions on a workaround woul be appreciated. What are you seeing in the file /var/log/exim4/paniclog? Far better to fix the problem than workaround the report. -- Chris From what I can see, 'paniclog' is not being written to properly, the last (and only) few entries are from a failed attempt yesterday where I tried to use a CentOS version of my exim.conf file (renamed to exim4.conf). The 'mainlog' and 'rejectlog' files seem to be fine, there are even older version of those (mainlog.1, etc) and mail is working normally too it's just some kind of glitch with the 'paniclog' file. I would suggest stopping exim, removing the panic log and restarting it. Exim will throw this error if the log has 0 size. BTW - replies are probably best directed to the list :) -- Chris -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

What's annoying about this one is that paniclog is rotated on a size basis, not by time, so even if this only happens once when you get a configuration wrong, you'll get the error every day. The definitive fix is to edit /etc/logrotate.d/exim4-base so that the paniclog configuration is the same as that for mainlog and rejectlog. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. If I clear that file of it's contents it no longer gives an error when I restart Exim but if there are any lines in there at all it does. I think I'll just live with clearing it out every once in a while (when I make bad changes to Exim's config) instead of trying the logrotate fix, that way I won't end up with alot of empty (or near empty) files.
