I downloaded the whole rex (1.2) yesterday, including contrib, non-free,
and non-us. Also all the disk images. This was in total just above 300 MB.
Did I miss something?

My archive includes contrib (no non-free) and rex; binary-all,
binary-i386, disks-i386, msdos-i386, and source. Currently my archive is
hovering at just under 600 meg.

Yes, you are right. I have to take into account the m68k distribution.
But I think the Alpha and SPARC distributions are still in development,
right? Anyway this explains why we need more than one CD. Thanks for
clarifying it.

Yes, what machine do you have? If you have intel(i386) then you won't
have packages for others like alpha, m68k, sparc.

What's the size of the CD (is it 650MB?). I have a mirror of bo, rex,
contrib and non-free and they take just over 300MB. Am I missing
something?

The distribution has gotten so large that 1.2 barely fits on a CD, leaving
no room to include bo.
With a little luck ;-) the next release will overflow one cd but leave
room on the second for whatever unstable development is available although
I will probably use that space to provide a "boot from CD" root file
system.

Will these CD include only Debian 1.2 or does one of these companies also
provide a snapshot of 'bo'?

1.2 is released. The announcement went out yesterday on debian-announce
and various other venues.

There are two companies selling CD-writables of Debian today:

Dale Scheetz <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
I-Connect Co. <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Infomagic is coming out with a CD set with 1.2 on it. This CD has already
been mastered, and I don't know how long duplication will take.

1.2 release?

Will 1.2 be officially released soon? Also, when can I expect to find it
on CD-ROM distributions (I'm NOT downloading all that stuff again...too
slow!)

Thanks, Chris.

Wonderful one-liner. I think you should make a sig out of this and

I see a dangerous precedent here -- putting one's personal life ahead of
Debian. And I notice you wrote "we". Relationships tend to sap and impurify
all of our precious bodily fluids, which are essential to the generation of
good code.

How about the PAckages with "Distribution: unstable" shouldnt we change this
