Take a look at sox. Eg, the following from 'man sox',

A software function generator for /dev/dsp?

Moin,

I'm looking for a function generator for the soundcard. It should generate
sine, square and triangle.
Maybe modulate and sweep.
I'm also looking for a oscilloscope software for the souncard.

Any hint?
