I used editres to find out some of the resource names for the new netscape. They seem to have all changed. For example, this sets the geometry in 4.0: Netscape.Navigator.geometry: 539x432 I haven't yet figured out what resource, if any, sets the background color to something other than that hideous glaring white. -- See shy Jo. -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] . Can you also say why netscape 4.0 no longer reads the netscape* resource variables? Or am I going to have to use the -geometry argument, for example. (The folks at netscape haven't answered my questions about that.) netscape -help produces: -xrm to set a specific X resource. Does anyone have a list of the available resources? (Don't know if this works for the 4.0 beta, it does for 3.0) Netscape seems to want to use the PseudoColor visual class if it's available. I don't like to exit from Netscape because it comes up with a huge screen which I always reposition in the top left corner and shrink to fill my visible screen. Maybe "-ncols 256" since netscape only uses gif images and you have 24 bpp? --Rick [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word "unsubscribe" to [EMAIL PROTECTED] . Re: Another Netscape Question
This would be "-install" which makes it use it's own color map. Re: Another Netscape Question
I have not tried the new version of netscape but the old version was less than gentle with the color maps. Check the docs for a command line switch that tells netscape to go into a color map sharing mode. I dont remember what it is or where I put the sticky note but I know that it can be done. The result is that while the netscape window is active the rest of your screen will be smashed and when the main window is active netscapes window will be smashed. Hope this helps. Rick. Try giving it the "-ncols" option. I use "-ncols 64" and find images still look quite good. I find with that, fvwm2, and a few other apps that I still have 120-128 colormap entries free. Another Netscape Question
Does Netscape (4.0b3) hog the colormap on everyone's system or just mine? Have they not heard of sharing? Is there a fix for this, I would like to see colored screensavers when netscape is running among other things. I'm running X11R6 in 1024 x 768 24bpp, Linux 2.0.30, Cirrus clgd5426.
