Spam. :) But SPAM (the Hormel product is always capitalized) is good. Instead, get that Flavorite Potted Beef Byproduct they sell for 30 cents for the big can at the inflated downtown Safeway prices...and still doesn't sell. -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.2.5 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFBN1SNUzgNqloQMwcRApwEAJ9h6cwEi5mfNGPgOAxCshLdB1fYmwCeJ7r9 jyBn7VRmd/r1zEwRhnVKDJM= =dzEP -END PGP SIGNATURE- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Debian does not have a register of its users e-mail addresses. Any such notices would go out on debian-announce and debian-security-announce to those subscribed. I think it would take a lot before people start to ignore messages from particularly the second source. I think it's pretty clear that spammers these days like to use their send lists as a source for forged headers and fake contact addresses. We see that every week here on d-u, some weeks more than others, as people write about cancelling subscriptions to services Debian doesn't provide, being dissatisfied with purchases, or asking to be removed from the send list (and I have a pretty good feeling they are not actually on the d-u send list) -- not to mention the misconfigured mail servers harassing debian-user about mails they got from someone who said their name was debian-user. -- Alex Nordstrom http://lx.n3.net/ Please do not CC me in followups; I am subscribed to debian-user. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Spam. :) I get a lot of these too. All the usual offenders. Yea I noticed an increase, but this is the first time it happened to my spam account, which is different from my list supplied address. You think spammers would know a little bit about the addresses they forge. But then again what they do makes no sense, I guess that is what spam filters are for. I just feel bad for Debian in general, cause someone might be mistaken, and really think it is from Debian. Or heaven forbid, say a problem arose and Debian decided to email alerts and people ignored them due to forged headers. I know it in very unlikely that Debian would do this, but I just despise these tactics, and the people who are putting Debian in a bad light. Anyone getting debian forged headers in Email?
I got this in one of my spam accounts, and thought it was a little weird. Here is the full headers. - Return-Path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Delivered-To:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Received:(qmail 2491 invoked from network); 30 Aug 2004 19:30:28 - Received:from unknown (HELO prdmx8.nwk.iwon.com) ([10.50.30.74]) (envelope-sender <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>) by 0 (qmail-ldap-1.03) with SMTP for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; 30 Aug 2004 19:30:28 - Return-Path:<[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received:from x8v9x9.org (pool-141-151-76-183.phil.east.verizon.net [141.151.76.183]) by prdmx8.nwk.iwon.com (Postfix) with SMTP id 3BC193402A for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Mon, 30 Aug 2004 15:13:28 -0400 (EDT) Date: Mon, 30 Aug 2004 15:30:21 -0500 To: "Rthoreau" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> From:"Debian-user" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> [ Add to Address Book | Block Address | Report as Spam ] Subject:Changes.. [TTL 86400s] [A=141.151.76.183] I just wanted to warn people about forged headers, The E-mail had an vbs attachment with it, which is even more funny. Anyway be aware of forged headers, this is the first I have seen, I will keep the E-mail, is their anything I can do to help stop this. I gave up on emailing abuse as most times it does not work, or return address is wrong. Rthorea -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
