This clearly is not an excel binary file, but some html-export form. You
can probably open this file in your browser. Apparently MS Excel has a
trick for importing these files, which oofice doesn't have. Try either
another spreadsheet program (kspread,...), or try to obtain a proper
binary xls, or better, and opendocument compliant file.

It is a file generated by What's Up Gold that supposed to be a tabular
data. It can be viewed with MS Office 2003 as it should but not with OOo
3.0.1 from lenny-backports
