Re: Cheap Alpha anywhere?

Michael Laing I'm not sure if $4995 is cheap, but I found a Microwave's motherboard with Harvard architecture and PCI, designed for Alpha 21164. It is likely possible to put the board inside a usual PC box together with typical PCI cards. What is interesting, Linux was mentioned (in their advertisment) as one of OS's the board is able to run. The price I mentioned concerns the entry level versions (275 MHz). Top model (according to Microwave's materials) achieves 800 MFlops on 400 MHz. Nice toy, isn't it? I am interested in running Debian on an Alpha - anyone know a good source for one? lowest cost preferred! I'm not sure if $4995 is cheap ... You can find Multias on sale for $800 or less. Check out comp.sys.dec and misc.forsale.computers.workstations. You will find used machines as well as mail order houses advertising in those newsgroups. --Greg -- TO UNSUBSCRIBE FROM THIS MAILING LIST: e-mail the word unsubscribe to [EMAIL PROTECTED] .
