After creating some rule with procmail, the existing mbox can be
   processed as follows:

1. cd Mail
# or the directory where mbox or the mail is
2. mv mbox xyz
# this prevents problems, since the rule may send some email to mbox,
# that is, most likely it will
3. cat xyz | formail -s procmail
# See man formail, man procmailrc, man procmail, etc.

Example of recipe:

Forward all mail in mbox to new email address

Thanks ,

PS: it would be much better to have these sent to the
new address with the senders are the original ones
instead of me, but if it's not possible, forward would
be fine.

In respond to suggestions about moving the mbox file
to another machine: I plan to store these mails from
my local machine to a web-based location such as
Yahoo. Therefore I cannot do as suggested, I have to
email those to myself.

Thanks for the tip on the the bounce feature in mutt.
It is what I want except if if I tag all the one I
want then bounce ends up giving a 'big' message
contains all those mails instead of individual one.

Get an IMAP account at fastmail, Then, with a graphical MUA,
you can drag-n-drop the emails from /var/mail/$USER (or wherever
mutt puts its mail) to your IMAP account.

marauders in radiation poluted area are not just a regular
marauders, they don't steal stuff for themselves. There were
cases of radiactive tv sets and other stuff being sold on city
second hand markets and then police shot 7 or 8 of them and it
helped

Why not scp (or ftp, burn to CD, etc) the mbox file to the new
machine?
