You can play with hping2 to get a firm answer on that. This is what I
use when I what to see if it lies on the firewall or on the remote
server when a service does not work.

Yahoo is evil. How many signs will it take everybody to get that?

And I don't mean Spike-evil, either; we're talking Darla-evil.
Wolfram-and-Hart-evil. Darth-Vader-evil. Kahn-Noonian-Singh-evil.

INTERCAL-evil. Befunge-evil. RPG-II-evil.

Gaim trouble

2002-04-04 Thread Sridhar M.A.
Hi,

Since yesterday I have noticed a peculiar problem. When I try to log on
to Yahoo Messenger service with gaim, it aborts with a cannot connect
message. But, ari-yahoo and ymessenger (from yahoo site), work well.
Similarly, kyahoo complains that it cannot get enough pager data (?) and
aborts. I tried both the testing and unstable versions with the same
result. Deleted .gaimrc and .gaim/ and started all over again, but with
the same result. Has anybody noticed similar problems?

Regards,

You don't become a failure until you're satisfied with being one.

GAIM from Sid works fine for me. You might try unloading/reloading the
libyahoo plugin.

Make sure that your server name is set properly. The default setting for
the Yahoo server for me didn't work. I used the one that I found in the
Yahoo for Linux settings (cs.yahoo.com) and used that and have had no
problems since.
