galeon and mozilla hang with slow connection
When using galeon and mozilla, if there is a hang with the connection, i.e whatever request they are performing doesn't happen imediatly they hang up completly untill they get some reply. Thus if I try to connect under load or a slow site they don't redraw the window, don't respond to button, close window requests etc. Is this the expected behaviour or is it a problem with my system or mozilla/galeon? -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". If I was handling this on a support phoneline, I'd start with questions about which train it was, what direction, which side of the aisle, aisle or window seat, you get the idea. Find the "Any" key ;) Galeon is one of a handful of Gnome applications that seems to be prone to looping at creation of new windows. Most of Gnome doesn't do that, and most of those that have been prone to that have stopped, but I keep seeing this mentioned enough around Galeon (including in the last couple of weeks) that it sounds like they haven't *polished* that point up yet. Usual solution is to rename the ~/.galeon directory - likely something is corrupted in it from a previous crash. Mozilla driving the CPU to 99% would be something different - any of a number of things can do that. Galeon AND Mozilla!
I use Galeon or Mozilla. I was in the train station. I booted my laptop. I used Galeon. I got on the train... Galeon: On starting Galeon I see the standard "last time bombed" I click discard last session. Galeon starts making new windows at the rate of 2 per second, ad infinitum(?) Clicking X to close the windows, as fast as I can, _sometimes_ stops it. Trying to enter an URL in the one remaining window has the same result (many, many windows) Mozilla: CPU usage goes to 99% for a while, then it quits. Now, I did NO updates between when it worked and when it did not, so it can not be a bug. :( (Galeon has no open bugs like I describe) Is it a key that is stuck down? I am very sad. -Josh P.S. I did not have net access on the train, was planning to work on my own website. I don't know about 1.2.5, but galeon 1.2.6 from sid had an "Allow popups" check box under prefs->advanced->filtering that's unchecked by default. According to galeon's new page, popup blocking was introduced before 0.11.1 (before mozilla had it, AFAIK): http://galeon.sourceforge.net/news/index.php If you can provide some web pages where you're seeing this, I can test with my versions and see what happens. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". If you don't happen to be using the version of mozilla on which your version of galeon is based, you could, theoretically, see very different behaviour do to bugs being fixed or new bugs being introduced. Also, I believe gelon may've introduced some of their own popup blocking/javascript disabling code (I belive the popup blocking code has more to do with the UI than with the gecko rendering engine), which may be less forgiving than mozilla's. This, however, is just my (only slightly) educated take on the matter. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Same bookmark file for Galeon and Mozilla?
Hi, Is it possible to use the same bookmark file for both Galeon and Mozilla? I often find it difficult to decide which one I should use. Galeon seems to be the better choice, but it also tends to crash more often :( The problem is that if I use one of them for a while I always have to update my bookmarks in the other. It would be much nicer if they could share a common file... Many thanks for your help in advance! regards, Balazs -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Rendering difference between Galeon and Mozilla
Hello. I've recently (yesterday) installed galeon and mozilla from sid. I'm experiencing strange rendering issues with galeon : Try to go to http://www.debianplanet.org/debianplanet/ with both browsers and feel the difference !!! A lot of other sites behave like this. I don't understand how this can be, since galeon is based on mozilla's engine..? Can anybody explain me this? Otherwise galeon is superb, but this behaviour is too annoying for me to use it as main browser. Too bad... -- Dominique Deleris http://potatoworld.tuxfamily.org

Re: Galeon and Mozilla builds
You can use my packages by adding the following lines in your sources.list : deb ftp://ufies.org/pub/galeon/people/christophe ./ #deb ftp://ufies.org/pub/galeon/people/christophe/cvs-build ./ Comment the second line if you want to use the last galeon release. You need to remove the kitame entry in your sources.list and to remove the four mozilla packages by hand (mozilla, mozilla-dev, libnspr4, libnspr4-dev). You can still use the nautilus but I believe nautilus packages are now in the normal tree.
