How does the mailing-list-usenet gateway work?
Stuff sent to the mailing list shows up on linux.debian.user. My question is, does stuff posted to linux.debian.user go to the mailing list? In fact, I tried posting to the newsgroup and it didn't even show up on the newsgroup itself? Does the newsgroup support posting? - Joe

I was informed that the linux.debian.user group has actually been discontinued for quite some time. Apparantly it's still being kept alive by Deja, but you won't see it anywhere else. Perhaps it is a good thing it has been discontinued, since nobody here is obscuring their email address to avoid Usenet spam harvesters. -- caffeine at mindrape dot orghttp://www.mindrape.org/caffeine/ 1024D/448354FA 3329 C287 FE9F 3BFE FED1 1F10 DE05 1767 4483 54FA

Good point (seriously). What (else) would you suggest? I'd just leave the Usenet gateway down. Even so, there is still a problem with harvesters spidering http://lists.debian.org/, which contains all the mailing list archives, complete with friendly mailto links for all the authors. -- caffeine at mindrape dot orghttp://www.mindrape.org/caffeine/ 1024D/448354FA 3329 C287 FE9F 3BFE FED1 1F10 DE05 1767 4483 54FA
