Hi David, To let you know that I managed to fix this issue. I installed default-jre package and I purge all packages containing gcj/gij in their name. By doing this, I got openjdk 1.6 installed by default which is fine for me and this solved the issue. Now, I didn't tell there are no bugs in the java package dependencies or in the configuration of update-alternative for these packages. Well... I'm happy with this fix :) Hope this helps, Cheers, Fred. signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part.

No fix. But I have the same issue. I didn't manage to fix it. If I'm not wrong, I think it's a bug in update-java-alternatives from java- common. I'm running debian unstable, same package version than yours. See: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=41 Any other hint would be appreciated. mozilla-acroread installation bug fixed
Hello, all: I've just had a frustrating time trying to upgrade mozilla-acroread from version 8 to version 9, and thought I'd report the fix. The file /var/lib/dpkg/info/mozilla-acroread.postinst has a line which reads PLUGIN=/usr/lib/Adobe/Reader8/Browser/intellinux/nppdf.so That 'Reader8' should be 'Reader9', so I corrected it and ran /var/lib/dpkg/info/mozilla-acroread.postinst configure which installed the proper plugin. Previously, I was stuck with version 8, which wasn't working properly. So far, version 9 has been working fine. (And, yes, I know I should have done something like "dpkg-reconfigure mozilla-acroread', but my way worked too!) Sitebar on Sarge installation bug?
Dear all - I have this strange issue when trying to install sitebar on my new Sarge system. 'apt-get install sitebar -s' will give: The following NEW packages will be installed: apache2-common apache2-mpm-prefork libapache2-mod-php4 sitebar ssl-cert wwwconfig-common But my system already runs apache. From the Debian site the dependencies for Sitebar are: apache2 or httpd. The latter is provided by apache, if I am right. I came across the same when setting up squirrelmail. I wonder, is there something broken in my installation, or am I missing a (vital) point here? Other thing I notices when setting up Sitebar on a test system (which runs apache2), is that the installation breaks. This seemd to be related to rights on the /usr/share/sitebar/inc directory, required to write the config.inc.php file. When I edited this file manually, things did work. Re: Potato Installation Bug ?
I have always had a problem with the boot disks occasionally dying. The things I can advise are: * check that floppy access has actually finished and then give it a few seconds * going too fast throught the install (and swapping disks) make it more likely the install will hang If it hangs at the point where everything is done, you dont need to do the install all over again, just reboot with the original rescue disk, but instead of initialising a Linux partition, just mount the ones you created last time. The next step will then take you to create boot disk or boot from hard drive. You can then keep on trying untill you get a successful boot disk!! Johnny. installation bug ?
Hi, I tried to install Slink 2.1_r4, but got a problem. I'm installing from CD (which I made from the iso-images). The file /install/install.en.txt tells me I have to run /boot/boot.bat, but there is no boot.bat in /boot, so I used /install/boot.bat. I am starting with a msdos-disk with an atapi-driver for cdrom support. When I start /install/boot.bat the uncompressing as going OK. Then I get the message 'loading kernel' and the whole computer resets automatically. I don't think this is OK. The computer is a 486DLC33 with 8MB internal memory. Could you tell me what the problem could be ? Thank you very much, Casper Doppen [EMAIL PROTECTED]
Installation Bug?
First, thanks to everyone who answered the last question. It's much appreciated. But.. is there a bug in the 'Select Devices' part of the instalation? Even though they've been selected, ppp, slip, vfat, and other options never get installed, leaving a crippled system.

The problem can be solved setting TEXMFMAIN to /usr/lib/texmf before you install the new packages. Once you do this everything should be fine (tetex-base will claim that VARTEXFONTS isn't set, but it won't stop the installation). The TeX *.cnf files have changed, so if you are updating it'd be a good thing to make a copy of the old ones and install the new ones that provide the new installation.
