Installing Hamm - NFS not working

1998-05-27 Thread Ian Lynagh

Hi all

I am trying to install base2_0.tgz via NFS.

On 192.168.37.2 I have
/tmp(rw)
in /etc/exports (I have also tried other lines such as
/tmp*.lynagh.demon.co.uk(ro,insecure)
but no better luck)

When I "mount -t nfs 192.168.37.2:/tmp /mnt" from 192.168.37.2 it all
works fine, but when I try it from 192.168.37.13 I get
"mount: RPC: Timed out". I can ping 192.168.37.13 from 192.168.37.2
but I can't try the other way as 192.168.37.13 doesn't yet have ping.

Does anyone have any idea what I am doing wrong?

If you could answer prmptly I would be grateful as I will have to turn
the machine off when I go to bed so will need to install the first
2 disks and set everything up again.

Thanks
Ian

I had someone on the 'net try it out and they could NFS mount it.
So either NFS mounting won'twork on the disks I have or the
network isn't working.

I have a Genius-Kye 2000 III. Using just ne it failed to install,
but ne io=0x300 irq=15 seemed to work. ping and traceroute are
not on the new box yet - is there anyway I can test the network
(remember I can ping it from other computers...).

Thanks
Ian
