Some teathing problems. KDM does not start. It gives some error msg. What error message, exactly? However after login in console, startx works. I have edited the subject given the nature problem is now a different one. Maybe a new thread would have been better, though... Download a Debian Installation CD 3. Create a new VM, and follow the wizard (defaults are generally fine). 4. At first boot, VirtualBox asks for path to the installation CD. 5. Vbox will also walk you the steps to create both partitions.
