Keyspan USA-19QW USB-to-serial dongle
I successfully used my Keyspan USA-19QW USB-to-serial dongle back in 2007 running Ubuntu. After several OS reinstalls, I am now on Debian Squeeze, but I am having some problems getting it to work. Is there some user error involved here or should I open a bug? - After I plug in the USB-to-serial dongle (dmesg): [ 2615.044105] usb 3-1: new full speed USB device using uhci_hcd and address 3 [ 2615.189670] usb 3-1: New USB device found, idVendor=06cd, idProduct=0118 [ 2615.189678] usb 3-1: New USB device strings: Mfr=0, Product=0, SerialNumber=0 [ 2615.189868] usb 3-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice [ 2615.192764] keyspan 3-1:1.0: Keyspan - (without firmware) converter detected [ 2615.192776] usb 3-1: firmware: requesting keyspan/usa19qw.fw [ 2615.200679] usb 3-1: Required keyspan firmware image (keyspan/usa19qw.fw) unavailable. - No device file (/dev/ttyUSB0) is created: $ ls -l /dev|grep -i usb $ - According to: http://wiki.debian.org/Firmware keyspan/usa19qw.fw <http://packages.debian.org/file%3Akeyspan/usa19qw.fw> is in keyspan.ko $ /sbin/modprobe -l|grep -i keyspan kernel/drivers/usb/serial/keyspan.ko kernel/drivers/usb/serial/keyspan_pda.ko kernel/drivers/input/misc/keyspan_remote.ko $ lsmod |grep keyspan keyspan23066 0 usbserial 22100 1 keyspan usbcore98733 7 btusb,keyspan,usbserial,uvcvideo,uhci_hcd,ehci_hcd $ lsmod|grep -i usb btusb 8077 2 bluetooth 36319 9 sco,bnep,rfcomm,l2cap,btusb usbcore98733 5 btusb,uvcvideo,uhci_hcd,ehci_hcd nls_base4541 1 usbcore $ uname -r 2.6.32-5-686 $ aptitude search firmware|grep ^i i firmware-iwlwifi- Binary firmware for Intel Wireless 3945, 4 i firmware-linux - Binary firmware for various drivers in the i firmware-linux-free - Binary firmware for various drivers in the i firmware-linux-nonfree - Binary firmware for various drivers in the $ aptitude search usb|grep ^i i libusb-0.1-4- userspace USB programming library i A libusb-1.0-0- userspace USB programming library i A libusbmuxd1 - USB multiplexor daemon for iPhone and iPod i A usb-modeswitch - mode switching tool for controlling "flip i A usb-modeswitch-data - mode switching data for usb-modeswitch i A usbmuxd - USB multiplexor daemon for iPhone and iPod i usbutils- Linux USB utilities i A xserver-xorg-video-sisusb - X.Org X server -- SiS USB display driver
