Does anyone have a similar append line working for the ATI framebuffer on
the x86 platform? I'm a bit stym'd by lack of kernel documentation
refering to the ATI framebuffer, and what little info I have refers to
using Open Firmware on the PowerPC to set the framebuffer paramaters.

I've used a similar append line (video=atyfb:vesa:) but it doesn't
actually do anything. Maybe I'm using the wrong mode or the wrong name or
something.

It is a kernel option. Once compiled in, you use it with a lilo append
option like "video=matrox:vesa:0x105,fv:74". THe kernel sources have a
readme.

LE means somewhat "light". There is no video extension and it
is "limited" to 8MB RAM.

Is this the prefered method. I'm a little bit slow in following
new things and I'm not really sure, how to implement that.

OK, it's from less importance since I'm using boxes with >= 200 MHz.

Kind regards

Andreas.

I have a G200 (don't know what the LE is suppose to be). So for the
above items:

1) yes
2) I think no, but I use the linux 2.2 framebuffer to get high
resolution and refresh rate at the console
3) Don't know, I don't use this.

Matrox Millenium G200LE

1999-08-02 Thread Andreas Tille
Hello,

is the Matrox Millenium G200LE supported by the current
1) XF86 drivers
2) SvgaTextmode
3) SvgaLib

My company has brought some new boxes and I wonder if I should
take one from the new boxes in favour of my good working one
(with Matrox Millenium II).

Kind regards

 Andreas.
