This looks more Firefox related rather than your desktop's issue. Check
the troubleshooting guide here

and hopefully you ll find an answer.

Microphone doesn't work

2019-10-30 Thread sterbl.ta

Don't know how to explain my problem (probably because I am not familiar with
hardware and sound relation setting). Apology if description of my problem
looks incompletely. My problem is when attending the online meeting, my
laptop's microphone never worked at all.

My laptop is HP 840 G5, and its audio should be
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05903000#AbT9

Environment I use:

kernel: 5.2.0-2-amd64
Debian version: bullseye/sid

arecord --list-devices shows

 List of CAPTURE Hardware Devices
card 0: PCH [HDA Intel PCH], device 0: CX8200 Analog [CX8200 Analog]
  Subdevices: 1/1
  Subdevice #0: subdevice #0

Checking alsamixer, it looks like ok because microphone is turned on

Following the instruction at
https://linuxconfig.org/how-to-test-microphone-with-audio-linux-sound-architecture-alsa

 for testing my microphone.

1. Record sound produced by microphone
arecord -d 10 /tmp/test-mic.wav2. Reply the sound recorded
aplay /tmp/test-mic.wav
I am sure I can hear the sound produced by my microphone.

Unfortunately when attending all the meeting (such as google meets), even with
permission is granted (allowing microphone and camera to be used temporary) my
microphone never function (so people in the meeting never heard my voice).

I suppose this could be something I miss or I am not aware. But the problem i
do not know where to check the possible root cause, and fix it.

I appreciate any suggestions!
