Out of frustration over XCFE I installed KDE and now XFCE mounts the USB-sticks without any changes to XFCE. To be sure, however, I installed thunar-volman; you never know. Thanks. -- K. Mount/Automount of USB-sticks
I am running Debian Lenny 5.0 amd64 since a couple of days. USB-sticks are recognized (according to the log) but they are not mounted automatically nor are the mountable. What do I have to do? Have you tried mounting with root permissions (i.e., as root)? If that is successful, try adding your non-root user to group 'plugin'.
