Do you have X running? Are you setting up a server or are just an end-user? The simplest thing to do as an end user is get Netscape's Communicator/Navigator. Hello: Install smail and qpopper. Answer the questions during install. NOTE - your name server must be setup properly before you can use SMTP and you should have a fully qualified domain name.
