Take a look at wmaker 0.5 + wmaker-gnome at potato (unstable release). I have
installed it this weekend and it seems to work (at least I can use
gnome-pager). I am almost sure that this package, although being at unstable,
does not need glibc 2.1.

Good luck,

Paulo

I use fvwm 2.2 with gnome, this is probably less gnome than you want.

Englightment (E) is not stable or fast enough for me to get some work
done (while the fvwm folks finish gnome support).

I don't know how well it works with gnome, but I think Window Maker is pretty
stable.

I am using the Icewm-gnome and it works well. Almost 100% gnome
compliant. I seem to remember that the ONLY one certified by the Gnome
org as 100% compliant is Enlightnment. Its not one that I like, but you
may appreciate all the screen stuff.
