You could also try:

XFree86 -configure

This will make X probe your hardware and suggest a XF86Config that should
work with all modes your harware can support. See man XFree86.

as root try:
get-edid | parse-edid

If it works, you will get monitor identification codes and mode
definitions that can go into your XF86Config file.

2002-06-16 Thread D.
For what its worth, I use a Sony Trinitron CPD-220VS
monitor, my Horz is set to 30 - 70 and my vertical is
set to 50 - 120 in XF86Config. Have you tried to do a
dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86? That should
generate a XF86Config-4 in /etc/X11.

read-edid package may tell you what to add to your XF86Config file to
get video mode you want.

Jerome,

I've attached the output from get-edid. Hopefully this is not as bad
as it appears to the untrained eye... ;)

Thanx,
Ian

I think that xvidtune will tell you hsync and vsync.

Thanx Patrick,

Could you be more specific? If I fire up xvidtune and click on the
next and prev buttons, it only shows 640x480 and 800x600.

Thanx,
Ian
