Yes, there is a $5.00 1.3.0 Official CD from LSL. These are volume pressed
from the original $50.00 golds.

FWIW normal stamped CD's run about $1 a peice with the jewel case and 2
color silk in low (few hundred) quanity. CDR's are about $5. (And take 0.5
hours per disc to cut at X2 )

Nope, these are gold CDR creations. The blanks cost more than $5.00.
These were expected to be purchased by vendors, as a master for their
volume pressings. At $50 per pair there is very little profit left over
for the project. My personal production costs for pressing gold CDs is
around $20 per CD, so selling two for $5.00 would create a loss of $35.00
for the project...not very effective ;-)

Nope, these are gold CDR creations. The blanks cost more than $5.00.

The $50 CDs are only made for CD manufacturers. They cost about
$8/each when I bought the blanks. Blanks cost about $3.50 now. And I
use two bubble envelopes - one for each CD. So it's $17 materials, then
probably $15 to federal express them. Then the rest is for my hassle
(and is donated to the project), as I've got more important things to
do than write CDs.

It's nice that people are paying $9.95 for CDs where $5 goes to Debian.
However, getting good software in people's hands is our first priority,
even if it means we get no donation at all.

Thanks

Bruce

J.F. Lehmann is a book store, specialized in scientific literature and

there is Debian GNU/Linux 1.3, including installation manual in
German, for short of 20 DM. In addition this Berlin group intends to
provide an update CD three to four times a year for about 10 DM.

Yesterday I tried to get a copy at the local Lehmann's in Cologne, but
unfortunatley I was told that I would have to wait until mid or end of
July.
