RE: Install Debian 3.1 on a new Dell PowerEdge 2850
Hi, We had a similar problem with our Dell PE2800 recently. At the moment, you have no choice but to install with the default 2.4.27 kernel and then compile your own 2.6 kernel afterwards. HTH -Glen Btw, can you do a "cat /proc/cpuinfo" on your system and tell me how much cache it sees (under "cache size")? We're suppose to have 2MB L2 cache, but Debian sees only 16k o.O -- Glen Yu | 416-739-4861 | [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Tuesday, April 18, 2006 6:53 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; debian-user@lists.debian.org Subject: RE: Install Debian 3.1 on a new Dell PowerEdge 2850 > > > > Original Message >From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] >To: debian-user@lists.debian.org >Subject: RE: Install Debian 3.1 on a new Dell PowerEdge 2850 >Date: Tue, 18 Apr 2006 07:27:50 +0200 > >>Hey >> >>I have just recived, my new server. You possibly need a custom kernel to get the RAID controller installed and recognised. I've seen at least one person publish details of how they did this. Alternatively, you could try using the Etch/testing installer - follow links from http://cdimage.debian.org. A work colleague has got Debian onto his brand new Dell but I'm fairly sure he used Debian testing to do it.
