I do not know what that program does, but I know that some telephone companies upload the modem with their own values. To figure out what they are, I suggest you make sure you can ping your modem, then telnet to it. Search through the options until you find something like: pc1 pc2 pc3 pc4 At least, that is what our Dutch company did. Originally it used to be: RELAY_PPP1 - RELAY_PPP4 so see if you can find something similar. I do not know for sure and I do not have a DSL modem, but I set up one. I downloaded pptp and patched it so pptp looks for the pc1 channel. You have to change 'pc1' in the patch with the value of you modem. You can find it all here: http://dl.xs4all.nl/adsl/ADSL-HOWTO_Linux.html It is Dutch, but I am sure you can follow the red line. Succes, Sebastiaan During the install I loaded the Epic 100 module, and entered the above values in the Configure Network option. I assumed this would be enough to let me access the Internet. However, after completing the installation and rebooting I could not connect to any sites, nor could I ping any servers. For example if I do a 'ftp ftp.debian.org' it instantly tells me it is not found. (It takes no time at all; doesn't even seem to look) Any advice? How can I get this to work? Re: Trouble Setting Up DSL
Hi, Did you check network configuration by ifconfig on Linux? Is it up? Also route -n? Can you ping 127.0.0.1? lsmod?... Also check your service is PPoE or not as previous poster? Debian, I think, had package for PPoE. Check it out. (This is suspisious one) Good luck. Before installing Debian I used the Windows 'winipcfg' utility to find out my IP address, DNS servers, Default Gateway, Subnet Mask and DHCP Server. Most residential DSL providers use PPPoE. Were you supplied a static IP address ?? If so, you're not using PPPoE. Did you have to install any special software in order to get connected or just enter IP addresses, gateway address, etc, etc ?? However, after completing the installation and rebooting I could not connect to any sites, nor could I ping any servers. For example if I do a 'ftp ftp.debian.org' it instantly tells me it is not found. (It takes no time at all; doesn't even seem to look) 'cause there's *no* network connection. If it was a DNS problem, it would at least take a few seconds for the protocol to timeout. Regards Hall

However, after completing the installation and rebooting I could not connect to any sites, nor could I ping any servers. For example if I do a 'ftp ftp.debian.org' it instantly tells me it is not found. (It takes no time at all; doesn't even seem to look) Try a ping or ftp using the IP address. If this works then check /etc/resolv.conf for the lines pointing to your nameservers. Hope this helps. T.J. (Terry) Carney. - * Selterra Communications [EMAIL PROTECTED] * -
