Re: installer with kernel 2.6.8 ?

2004-09-05 Thread Philippe Froidevaux

The current d-i daily build uses the 2.6.8(.1) kernel if you boot with
linux26. http://cdimage.debian.org/pub/cdimage-testing/daily/

yes. but :
- it doesn't work with my hardware (driver '3w-' give an error
before loading '3w-9xxx', and '3w-9xxx' doesn't load at all)
- the installed kernel is 2.6.7. So it boots with 2.6.8 but installs
2.6.7, it's not really usefull : it will install the stuff but will not
boot after all.

how can I build a 2.6.8 ISO image myself, or where can I download it ?

I found some informations here :
 http://wiki.debian.net/index.cgi?DebianInstallerBuild and
 http://wiki.debian.net/index.cgi?DebianInstallerModify, but it doesn't
work. Maybe not enought explanations for dummies.

I will try. It refers to the links I mentionned above (the not-working
howto), I hope it will be more usefull.

2004-09-04 Thread Stephen Tait
Has there been any further info on this? I too have just done a (very
cumbersome - install onto IDE, build kernel with 3w-9xxx, transfer install
to RAID arrays) install onto a 9000 card and would love to be able to build
myself a customised installer for the next time I have to do it.

I agree, I found alot of the things listed here *very* terse and presume
you know alot about how d-i works. Whilst I understand it's primarily for
devs, the 3ware 9000's are the only RAID cards I have available and without
the ability to install straight onto one I'm kinda stuck.

Sarge installer ISO image (the driver exists but is unusable, as many
 people reported in this lists).
