I preview the file in gthumb, but mostly because it will allow some minor editing (cropping, resizing), if needed/desired, before I scp up to my server or something. You'll need to substitute your png viewer for gpicview, and alter the canberra-gtk-play line depending on whether you have it (and/or the sound clip) installed. That's fun. My script doesn't beep or anything. Thanks for any suggestions, I just have a little script bound to the Print Screen key. I understand you are using XFCE, within which there is a means of binding keys through some graphical interface, I believe. (I use openbox, so just added the binding in my rc.xml). The script simple does #!/bin/bash filedate=$(date +%m%d%y%H%M%S) scrot $filedate.jpg gthumb $filedate.jpg exit This creates a screenshot with scrot, with the filename corresponding to the date-time (monthdayyearhourminuteseconds.jpg, essentially), then opens it for preview in gthumb. I have the script at /usr/local/bin/screeny I have another script to swiftly scp it to my remote host for display, and another to upload it to imgur, if I prefer. ./tony -- http://www.tonybaldwin.net All Tony, all the time! -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Somewhere in your XFCE prefs or configs there is a graphical program that will allow you to add keybindings. I do not recall where it is. I have played with XFCE, but have never used it regularly. It's handy to have such a script bound to a key. Of course, you can always use scrot from the cli. :~$ scrot -d (second of delay) filename.png or something (delay to minimize terminal, or whatever). Having it bound to a key is nice, because when watching a movie or something, I can just smack the key and get a screengrab. ./tony -- http://www.tonybaldwin.net All Tony, all the time! -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe.
