One useful trick in lynx is to switch the keypad mode to links are
numbered. Then you can just type the number and hit enter instead
of having to laboriously cursor down to the one you want. It's not
as much of a speed-up now as it was when I was using lynx remotely
over a 1200 bps modem, but it's still handy.

It's not about copying, but clicking; If you run elinks in a non-screen
terminal with GPM you can use the mouse to follow hyperlinks. And I
assume Finch has the same functionality, or eventually will (I know
there's a way to do it with Finch).

Oh. I use lynx on the console so I don't have that problem. Lynx just
uses RET to follow links. Sorry for the noise.

You didn't mention what version of gpm/screen your using or which
version of Debian, so here's all I can offer

I am writing this in a screen session ssh'ed to another box. Both
running testing and gpm version 1.19.6-25. I use the mouse to copy
to/from 5 different boxes using screen. Screen is at version 4.0.3-7.

:-) HTH, YMMV, HAND :-)

Good luck, I'm no expert but the patch might be the only way to go, a few
years back I tried in vain to find a solution that would get screen and
gpm playing nicely together and failed. If memory serves me when I was
reading the various archived mailing lists the screen people seemed to
blame it on GPM and the GPM people did not seem too bothered.

If you do decide to use the patch p;ease post to let us (well me) how well
it works.

I'm no expert but I would suggest reading the man page for the 'patch'
command as a start. As far as I can see yo 'cd to the directory containing
the code you want to patch and run something along the lines of

patch /path/to/file

I did notice there was a dry run option.

You could file a wishlist bug against gpm, sending this patch. It
has a decent chance of working, since gpm is currently at 1.19.6,
and the patch is for 1.19.3.
