When asking a question like this it's important to specify which
environment you're using, for example KDE, gnome, or other.

For KDE click
K -> Settings -> Printing Manager -> Add -> Add Printer/Class
or
K -> Run Command... -> Command -> kcmshell printmgr

Print Manager is in the package kdeprint.

Cheers,
Shaun

Just go to http://localhost:631, not /admin; once there, click on the
Admin button and you'll be asked for your root password.

And in the cups configuration (/etc/cups/cupsd.conf) make sure you've
got the right Allow/Deny rules for the /admin directory. (Not to mention
make sure if you use localhost you really -are- on the local host.)

Have You installed the cups server along with the cups client? Cups comes as a
client server system and Your problem sounds like You had forgotten to
install cupsys package itself and only installed cupsys-client.
Just to make sure, You used the debian packages?

Setting up a printer.

2004-03-07 Thread Jordi Carrillo
Hi,

I'm not capable to get my printer work under Debian
sarge.
I have installed cups, I've read the docs in
linuxprinting.org and all. If I go to
http://localhost:631/admin, the browser says that the
connection is refused and I don't understand why.
The printer is an HP Deskjet 820c and is supported
since I have downloaded the ppd file from
linuxprinting.
Any tips?
Thanks in advance,

Jordi
