Retrieving that particular session is probably not possible now, but for the future, if you want to record your terminal activity there are several solutions. On the other hand, if you can't reproduce the problem chances are it was either transient (can happen, especially when networks are involved, and seems to be the case here), or user error (e.g. user typed in wrong command). Which is why a copy-paste of what you see in the terminal is so important ;) Kind regards, Andrei -- http://wiki.debian.org/FAQsFromDebianUser Offtopic discussions among Debian users and developers: http://lists.alioth.debian.org/mailman/listinfo/d-community-offtopic http://nuvreauspam.ro/gpg-transition.txt signature.asc Description: Digital signature

Joe, Yes, that is what happened; I couldn't get a package. I tried a couple times and it did not find the package. I tried several hours later (just so I could document the steps) and it worked. It seems like the mirror I was directed to what not functioning correctly. ray -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Marc, Thank you for your efforts. I tried it again and reached http://debian.uchicago.edu/debian/ which seems like the URL in source.list is just a relay. ray -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". The syntax for an entry in the sources.list file isn't what I would call obvious. What you're seeing is in fact correct, even though the dists directory doesn't appear in it. When I enter: http.debian.net/debian/ into Firefox, I am redirected to: mirror.hmc.edu/debian which may be where your problem lies, or maybe not. In any case, my sources.list file uses the following line: deb http://http.us.debian.org/debian/ wheezy main contrib non-free Note that this is to debian.org, NOT debian.net. Source.list URL
The URL in the default source.list doesn't seem correct: /etc/apt/sources.list -> deb http://http.debian.net/debian/ wheezy main contrib non-free The above path is to a directory with other folders. But Wheezy is a subdirectory of dists, not debian. So it seems the URL should be: deb http://http.debian.net/debian/dists/ wheezy main contrib non-free (I added contrib non-free) I have just started with Linux and have not had much luck with apt-get so I am wondering if this might be a problem. ray -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
