After you do that, there's a button (called Sessions IIRC) in the login window (still from Gnome, probably) that will let you switch around between the window managers. I'd keep Gnome around, at least until you're comfortable with the new one. Besides it might be easier to reinstall from scratch than to try to get all the pieces of Gnome off your disk. -- Glenn English g...@slsware.com -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. How can I switch to XFCE, Fluxbox, or some other lightweight window manager? You d'load/install the wm/de you want, then tell X to open with with it. Again, documentation is your friend. Something like: http://wiki.debian.org/xinitrc Note that you're going to get a ton of different responses to a question like, Which wm/de should I use? So, your best bet is to try some. It's (usually) easy and (usually) free. Again, do, at least, a google search for an answer before bothering the list with questions. -- Jason Hsu jhsu802...@jasonhsu.com -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. How can I switch to XFCE, Fluxbox, or some other lightweight window manager? 1) You could do a reinstall: get the iso (debian-502a-i386-xfce+lxde-CD-1.iso) from here http://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/5.0.2a/i386/iso-cd/ 2) to install xfce on your current system: aptitude install xfce4 aptitude install xfce4-goodies log out at the login screen press F10 and select the Select Session option. Xfce will be one of the options. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
