If you have broadband you can easily and safely upgrade to the latest KDE, add
the following line to /etc/apt/sources.list:

deb http://download.kde.org/stable/3.1.2/Debian stable main

I changed out a cheapo video card a while in the past and that improved
things in general. At least I don't have to reboot the machine anymore.

I suspect Konqueror is misbehaving. To support this theory, I switched to
 Navigator 4.77 today.

Again I would recommend an upgrade to the latest mozilla, add this to your
/etc/apt/sources.list:

deb http://debian.relativ.org/ ./

It would make more sense to get the latest version of Mozilla (1.4),
and use that for both. Mind you, that means having some unstable
libraries and applications on your machine.

Uhm, I just discovered this thread. I need a better mail client here at
work...

Anyway, I use a simple perl script, which is set as the default browser.
Works quite well, but not perfect (something in KDE seems to check if the
page is there, adding an overhead).

Download from here:
http://www.oxborrow.net/code/perl/mozilla-remote/

Then, just add this script to your file associations the normal way (don't
have the exact recipe here, still fvwm at work), and you should be ready
to go.

The other way around, opening kmail from a mailto-link in Navigator is
worse, that's this bug: http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11459

Cheers,

Kjetil
