Sure, if you want to go to tldp and get it. I just install the deb for
the whole HOWTO set so I have them.

Doug.

Whether you meant;

Chapter 5. Single list of HOWTOs

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ apt-file search lvcreate
lvm2: /lib/lvm-200/lvcreate
lvm2: /sbin/lvcreate
lvm2: /usr/share/man/man8/lvcreate.8.gz

lvcreate is part of the lvm2 package it would seem.

http://packages.debian.org/etch/lvm2

says that lvm2 depends on lvm-common, so it should be installed
automatically.

http://packages.debian.org/etch/lvm2
http://packages.debian.org/etch/lvm-common

may help.

Hello Lee,

with "apt-file" you can search for files in packages which are _not_
installed. With your suggestions it's only possible to search in
packages which are installed.

Just my 2 cents

For operational help for standard stuff, I always refer to the
LVM-HOWTO. Its available with all the other HOWTO's in doc-linux-html
(available in other formats as well).

On etch, lvm2 depends on lvm-common.

Doug.

Hi Stephen,

That's provided by the package lvm2. As far as I can tell, there is no package
named "lvm-common" (at least not in Lenny).

By the way, you can search packages for individual files by running:
$ dpkg-query -S filename

In the same way, you can list filenames included in a package with
$ dpkg-query -L package

Best,
Lee

???

Or I have to install both? TIA
