X Windows : Newbie

If I run XF86config as root, will the file that it creates be used by all other users 
as well?
I have just finished configuring the XF86Config.X Windows now starts up as root.As 
soon as I change to another user and try to start x (startx), I get an error and X 
Windows doesn't want to start.

Any ideas?

Yes

Include the error messages.  There are several reasons why this can
happen.

They all uses the same file.

Are you logged in to X as root and at the same time trying to connect as 
a user? What says the error message?
