Re: X screen position -- also try monitor

On this machine, I found it easier to adjust the monitor than xvidtune. It
stores 10 or so custom settings, so it automatically returns to the correct
configuration.

However xvidtune alters the video card and the monitor settings alter the
monitor. Using xvidtune I can boost the refresh rate, but above a certain
point the screen starts to shrink in width. So to get the highest refresh
rate, I use the monitor settings to make the screen really wide and then
alter the modelines until the screen just fits in.

Anyone utility to shift the X screen (permanently?) to the right?

Take a look at xvidtune. It will allow you to interactively shift the
screen and dump the resulting X timing to stdout. You can then paste
those settings in your /etc/X11/XF86Config file.

Try using 'xvidtune'. If you use its 'Show' button once you've gotten
your screen in the proper place, you can copy and paste the info into
your /etc/X11/XF86Config.
