Thanks a lot, that worked like a charm!

Maybe you can try something like:

mv ~/.sane/xsane/ ~/xsane-old

Then fire up xsane. You can delete ~/xsane-old if things go
right. I believe xsane's config changed between versions.

Xsane Segfaults, xscanimage not.

2004-07-28 Thread Chrissie

Hi!

I own the Scanner arctec e+48u, and Scanned using xsane. Everything was
fine, until i switched to kernel 2.6. (Currently using 2.6.7-ck5)
The usb scanner module was removed from the kernel, the scanner now gets
acessed via libusb. This was also possible in kernel 2.4, but i used to
use scanner.o.
Distribution: Debian unstable.

Now, my scanenr gets recognized correct:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ scanimage -L
device `artec_eplus48u:libusb:001:002' is a Artec E+ 48U USB flatbed
scanner

But, if i start Xsane, it quits with a segfault.
Somewhere in the libusb. This are the "last words" from a strace xsane:

open("/tmp//xsane-preview-level-2-artec_
_eplus48u:libusb:001:002.ppm-1000-ZLl61W",
O_RDWR|O_CREAT|O_EXCL, 0600) = 9
close(9)= 0
open("/tmp//xsane-preview-level-2-artec_
_eplus48u:libusb:001:002.ppm-1000-ZLl61W",
O_WRONLY|O_CREAT|O_TRUNC, 0666) = 9
close(9)= 0
uname({sys="Linux", node="balearen", ...}) = 0
getpid()= 2730
write(5, "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"...,
2044) = 2044
write(5, "8\3\4\0 \0`\2\4\0\0\0\1\0\0\0B\0_\0\32\1`\2 \0`\2\1\0\1"...,
2048) = 2048
write(5, "8\3\4\0 \0`\2\4\0\0\0\0\0\0\0F\0\5\0.\1`\2 \0`\2\0\0\0"...,
2048) = 2048
write(5, "B\3E\0>\1`\2 \0`\2\21\0\t\0\21\0\t\0\1\0\n\0\6\0\n\0\f"...,
2048) = 2048
--- SIGSEGV (Segmentation fault) @ 0 (0) ---
+++ killed by SIGSEGV +++

Anybody has the same Problem?? Any Ideas how to fix this? I really like
xsane, and will continue using it.
