Currently not in Debian, but runs on Debian very well, check out BRL-CAD on Sourceforge. Check this out; http://brlcad.org/gallery/main.php Another possibility may be Varkon Modeling You will need to google this. It used to be available in a Debian package. I have both running on my system. These have a steep learning curve, but they are worth it, long term. If you are a student, I think Mathematica is available also. I think that currently octave is better maintained (used to be the oposite) and is a partial comaptible open source replacement of matlab. At lest at the time though the image processing capabilities of scilab were better (didn't use either lately, unfortunately they are no replacement for the real matlab and some fortran work for the things I do) -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. You may have a look at octave: http://www.gnu.org/software/octave/ For 3D visualisation, you could try octaviz: http://octaviz.sourceforge.net/ I used these in the courses at my school, our teacher used and recommended matlab but I wanted to go with free software. It did a pretty good job, although it cannot match matlab when it comes to really extensive 3D plots, animated and all. But you might give it a try. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-user-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of unsubscribe. Trouble? Contact listmas...@lists.debian.org
