I've had no end of troubles while using separate pcmcia-source, but they all went away since I started compiling pcmcia modules from kernel-source couple of versions ago. This doesn't answer your question directly, but it's a way that worked for me and I have fairly old hardware. Alex.
building pcmcia-cs for 2.4.9
hi guys, i am trying frantically to build the pcmcia-modules for 2.4.9 and i have installed pcmcia-source and unpacked the /usr/src/pcmcia-cs.tar.gz file into the /usr/src/modules/pcmcia-cs directory. but when i make it with make-kpkg modules_image, i get [...] Configuration successful. rm -f build build-modules test -f man/pcmcia.5 -a -f debian/rules umask 022; /usr/bin/make DEB_MOD=yes all make[3]: Entering directory `/usr/src/modules/pcmcia-cs' /bin/sh: -c: line 1: syntax error near unexpected token `;' /bin/sh: -c: line 1: `if [ "" ]; then set -e ; for d in ; do /usr/bin/make -C $d ; done; fi' make[3]: *** [all] Error 2 make[3]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/pcmcia-cs' make[2]: *** [build-modules] Error 2 make[2]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/pcmcia-cs' make[1]: *** [kdist_image] Error 2 make[1]: Leaving directory `/usr/src/modules/pcmcia-cs' Module /usr/src/modules/pcmcia-cs failed. Hit return to Continue which is because of the DEB_MOD=yes that causes the Makefile's variable DIRS to be erased in line 13 of the pcmcia-cs/Makefile, and consequently causes the lines (42:44) @if [ "$(DIRS)" ]; then \ set -e ; for d in $(DIRS) ; do $(MAKE) -C $$d ; done; \ fi to fail. what's up??? has anyone succeeded in bulding 2.4.9 pcmcia modules? thanks, martin; (greetings from the heart of the sun.) \ echo mailto: !#^."<*>"|tr "<*> mailto:"; [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- "know what I hate most? rhetorical questions." -- henry n. camp pgpPvT4G926bk.pgp Description: PGP signature
