changing timezone?
i found a file /etc/timezone, and i changed in from GMT-0, to GMT-8, but, date still reports GMT. is there any way to change this the timezone? it's really messing up my e-mail and when i got it. thanks -- Forrest English http://truffula.net I don't like this air, but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop breathing. -Doug Martsch
Re: changing timezone?
Okay, this sounds like a recent problem i had, timezone doesn't set as you described it in /etc/timezone untill you restart your system, that's how it worked. Anyway, if someone knows a better way, I'll be interressed to know ;-) NiColAs Dérooté ? - Original Message - From: Forrest English [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: debian-user@lists.debian.org Sent: Wednesday, January 03, 2001 11:06 AM Subject: changing timezone? i found a file /etc/timezone, and i changed in from GMT-0, to GMT-8, but, date still reports GMT. is there any way to change this the timezone? it's really messing up my e-mail and when i got it. thanks -- Forrest English http://truffula.net I don't like this air, but that doesn't mean I'm going to stop breathing. -Doug Martsch -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of unsubscribe. rebooting doesn't do the trick for me. Re: changing timezone?
Use the tzconfig program. There's more than one file that needs to be updated. Reboot shouldn't be required. -- Eric G. Miller egm2@jps.net

I must have goofed when I set my timezone during Debian installation. Is there a way to change this? Thanks -- Andrew
