I was plagued by this problem. I seemed to have fixed it by turning of the firewire in Bios. Best advice I saw in searching the net was to find out exactly what device is causing the problem. Do that by finding out what devices use the IRQ an turn them all off but one. Not so simple if a device is your hard drive, but you get the idea.
