I think Sun's JREs have problems installing under Wine versions
earlier than 0.9.61.  Either wait for 0.9.61, or build wine
from git.  See

maybe I missed part of this thread, but why? 

java is multiplatform, you don't need to install a jre in wine. Just
run the linux native jre with whatever java code you need to run. Or
am I missing something obvious here?
