Re: unable to install mysql server
I have followed the steps given by Stephen Powell and tried to install again. It is showing same error. Out of curiousity I have run *# dpkg -s mysql-server-5.0* **and the output of the above command is : *# dpkg -s mysql-server-5.0* Package: mysql-server-5.0 Status: install ok half-configured Priority: optional Section: misc Installed-Size: 81708 Maintainer: Debian MySQL Maintainers pkg-mysql-ma...@lists.alioth.debian.org Architecture: i386 Source: mysql-dfsg-5.0 Version: 5.0.51a-24+lenny3 Replaces: mysql-enterprise-server-5.0, mysql-server ( 5.0.51a-24+lenny3) Provides: mysql-community-server-5.0, mysql-server, virtual-mysql-server Depends: mysql-client-5.0 (= 5.0.51a-24+lenny3), libdbi-perl, perl (= 5.6), libc6 (= 2.7-1), libgcc1 (= 1:4.1.1), libmysqlclient15off (= 5.0.27-1), libncurses5 (= 5.6+20071006-3), libreadline5 (= 5.2), libstdc++6 (= 4.1.1), libwrap0 (= 7.6-4~), zlib1g (= 1:1.2.3.3.dfsg), debconf (= 0.5) | debconf-2.0, psmisc, passwd, lsb-base (= 3.0-10) Pre-Depends: mysql-common (= 5.0.51a-24+lenny3), adduser (= 3.40), debconf Recommends: mailx, libhtml-template-perl Suggests: tinyca Conflicts: mysql-server ( 5.0.51a-24+lenny3) Conffiles: /etc/mysql/debian-start 4272e4d740c8ae651ac35bbf4d2ed6dc /etc/logrotate.d/mysql-server 64e209fe34f73fbf10c9479bf30947c4 /etc/init.d/mysql 246ab7d69e00af14f03d12c54465b59c /etc/init.d/mysql-ndb-mgm becae0693dae627e6960249ae17bae19 /etc/init.d/mysql-ndb 25ad87aee00cf24aea5daf7ad4ed899f /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.server/mysql-server-5_0 20ccf274886d8f2897a10d9288579410 /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.workstation/mysql-server-5_0 20ccf274886d8f2897a10d9288579410 /etc/logcheck/ignore.d.paranoid/mysql-server-5_0 e8dbe35695437354553e61fd65b702ba Description: MySQL database server binaries MySQL is a fast, stable and true multi-user, multi-threaded SQL database server. For example, suppose two packages, a and b, have been updated. Let's say the new version of a depends on the new version of b. And let's say that the mirror was caught in the middle of an upgrade. The new version of a has been downloaded from the upstream mirror, but the new version of b has not. It is at this point when you run aptitude update aptitude full-upgrade Now, when you go to install the new version of a, it can't install properly because it depends on the new version of b, which you don't have. The next thing I would try would be to re-run the aptitude update aptitude full-upgrade sequence and try again. I'm not guaranteeing that this will solve your problem, but it might help. Then run dpkg-reconfigure mysql-server-5.0 and see what happens. -- .''`. Re: unable to install mysql server
I have purged mysql-server mysql-client using the following command : *# aptitude purge --purge-unused mysql-server mysql-client * and then i issued command : *# updatedb* I have again tried to install both of the packages, instead of downloading packages, i has took me directly to provide password for mysql and mysql is not configured properly. I have changed the debian mirrors, *my mirror list is* : # # deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 5.0.0 _Lenny_ - Official i386 DVD Binary-1 20090214-16:54]/ lenny contrib main #deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 5.0.0 _Lenny_ - Official i386 DVD Binary-1 20090214-16:54]/ lenny contrib main #deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 5.0.0 _Lenny_ - Official i386 DVD Binary-2 20090214-16:54]/ lenny contrib main #deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 5.0.0 _Lenny_ - Official i386 DVD Binary-3 20090214-16:54]/ lenny contrib main #deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 5.0.0 _Lenny_ - Official i386 DVD Binary-4 20090214-16:54]/ lenny contrib main #deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 5.0.0 _Lenny_ - Official i386 DVD Binary-5 20090214-16:54]/ lenny contrib main #deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 5.0.4 Update DVD 20100202: i386 DVD 1]/ lenny contrib main non-free # Line commented out by installer because it failed to verify: deb-src ftp://ftp.jp.debian.org/debian/ lenny main contrib deb http://security.debian.org/ lenny/updates main contrib non-free deb http://ftp.jp.debian.org/debian/ lenny main contrib non-free # Line commented out by installer because it failed to verify: #deb-src http://security.debian.org/ lenny/updates main contrib non-free # Line commented out by installer because it failed to verify: #deb http://volatile.debian.org/debian-volatile lenny/volatile main contrib non-free # Line commented out by installer because it failed to verify: #deb-src http://volatile.debian.org/debian-volatile lenny/volatile main contrib non-free.
